Fayetteville, NY
Explain goal tending
Explain use of mask and grip of stick
- We will use goggles when you are a goalie and will use foam
balls to shoot instead of pucks
- Grip stick with one hand (pencil hand) at the middle of the
shaft
- Hold stick so blade goes between your feet
- Back of your hand faces the shooter
- End of stick points to the right (if you hold the stick
with your right hand)
- Bend knees, keep back upright
- Hold left hand out to be ready to catch a shot
All with a partner (with own stick and a small nerf ball to
share)
- One partner (goalie), makes a goal (between two marks on the
wall
)
- Other partner gets 5 shots to try to score as many as
possible
- Switch every 5 shots
- Teacher goes around checking for correct technique
Application:
- Shoot out
- Set up 6 nets around the gym
- 1 at each end wall and 2 along each side wall
- Anyone that chooses to can be a goalie in one on the nets
- Put their regular stick on top of the net and use the
goalie stick and wear the goggles
- Everyone else must stay inside the white box painted on the
floor
- This area confines shooters and does not allow them to
get too close to the goalies while shooting
- They try to shoot small nerf balls at the goals
- Goalie tries to stop as many as they can
- STRESS KEEPING BLADES ON THE FLOOR WHEN
SHOOTING!
