At Rochelle Elementary Schools, we do not stop being active just because it is snowy and cold outside.  Here are three things that we do to keep our kids thinking about activity during the winter months.

On the first day that we get an accumulative snowfall, a huge snowball fight breaks out in the gym.  We use mats for snow forts, yarn balls, newspaper balls and small nerf balls as the snowballs.  Rules are reviewed as to what is safe and what it not safe.  We also discuss that  real snowball fights outside are not allowed.  I emphasize that the focus of the activity is being active.
