I always do communication activities for my gym class, outdoor education unit. A lot of it involves speaking and listening, sometimes closing of the eyes and moving around - focusing on their listening skills. I may have a student who is deaf in my class...how do I incoorporate that? Can I? And what should I do? |

One specific trust activity I did in an outdoor/adventure games class comes to mind here. The blind trust walk. The class is in a line, hands on shoulders of person in front of them, everyone closes their eyes except the first person in line. The first person in line however, can not talk. All others can't see. So, what I'm saying here is, that student who is deaf would be the perfect leader for this activity. What a great opportunity to lead. |
