I am a firm believer in bringing health into the classroom because I feel it is important for students to get the health and physical education knowledge equally. My question is does anyone have any fun games to bring to a physical education classroom dealing with health? Maybe a physical education tag game including health? Thanks! |

You could try Muscle Charades. It's not particularly active, but it does use a game format to teach the different muscle groups. You can see an article on it at the following link: Physical Education Games - Muscle Charades

There is a great game called Veins and Arteries Tag where you stay on the painted lines in the gym. The taggers are the "risk factors".They chase the others who are "the blood" flowing through the veins. When you are tagged you become a "blood clot" and make a tunnel position over the line. Now when someone tries to go on that line they must crawl through the tunnel (which slows them down). We discuss how our arteries can get clogged, what risk factors are and how we need to stay healthy to keep the blood flowing smoothly. |

Have you tried PECentral.org? They have a section of Health under Lesson Plans. Many of the plans are adapted into games. |

Circulation Scooter Students will be able to identify the flow of blood through the body,as well as identify different structures within blood and explain what they do. Students riding white scooters will represent white blood cells. Black scooters germs, red scooters red blood cells and blue scooters oxygen. Students will follow the flow of circulation through the body. White blood cells will attach to Black germs and turn them into White blood cells. Then will pick up oxygen in the lungs send take them through the body and drop them off in the muscles. Students will be able to incorporate a health lesson into this physical education class. They will use multiple intelligences, hands on active participation and team building. Learning how to work together to get the flow of the assignment running correctly. I incorporate this into my lesson plan and the kids always have fun doing it and grasp what they have learned at the end of the lesson.
