Should vending machines be allowed in the school setting? |

In our high school we have vending machines that only operate before and after school hours. It annoys me that they still sell sugar-loaded pop and unhealthy snacks in them, especially since we implemented a wellness policy a few years ago which states that these types of beverages and snacks are not to be sold within the school! Our wellness committee was told that we are under contract with the vending companies and once the contract was up we would take a look at removing them or replacing what is sold in them. We are still waiting for the contracts to expire????? |

In my high school we had only a couple vending machines. However, they were only avaiable after school hours at a certain time. However, it was full of the wrong types of foods. Snicker bars, twix, potato chips, etc. So it makes me wonder if this is the reason why this country is obese. The place where health is pushed is might actually be the place where health is crushed. As far as whether or not to have vending machines, I believe it is okay to a certain extent. Have healthier items in them, such as pretzels. |

I do not think a school is a place for a vending machine whether they are only available at certain times or not, unless there are healthy items only. |
