Do you believe students should be aloud to drink water in school? This is not asking if carbonated or caffeinated beverages should be aloud but if water and only water could be carried by kids. Would not every ones health benefit if they drank more water. |

I think allowing students to carry around water with them in schools is a good way to promote the idea of drinking beverages that are more healthy. It would also cut down on the interuption when a child has to remove themselves from the classroom to get a drink of water. However the problem with this would be the children that would abuse it. They would try to push the envelope to sneak different beverages in (even alcohol). Also alot of schools don't allow this because of the mess it can create, even if it is just water. |

I believe this is s great idea because I know in my high school they would not allow any other beverage is class except water. I know for a fact that more and more people were drinking water. I do believe this is a good idea. Another reason why we were only allowed to bring water to class is because in case someone would spill their drink. Water would be easier to clean up and it wouldn’t make a sticky mess like soda. |

I agree. I think it's a great idea to allow them to carry water. Children do not consume enough water to fuel their daily lives as it is, allowing it may help this problem. |

I think allowing students to carry water in class is a great idea. Having a beverage that is healthly and that is essential is awesome. Students would not have to leave the classroom to get a drink. However, kids are smart and they are always looking at ways to circumvent the rules. Drink lots of water and have to go the bathroom alot. Spilling can be an issue but only allow students to have water in containers that do not leak and won't cause a disruption in class (i.e containers that have a straw and when the students are drinking it, a loud sucking noise from the straw occurs). The benefits far outweigh the negatives and should be considered nationally. |

If the students are free to drink water in class they will avoid a lot of problems, related with the lack of accepting enough liquids. (Message edited by summit5 on January 04, 2007) |

Drinking water should definitely be allowed in schools. By not allowing pop or coffee and only giving the kids the option of drinking water or drinking nothing, many kids will pick drinking water. The only thing that educators need to start watching is what the kids put in the water bottles. I have heard of kids bringing alcohol in water bottles to school and passing it off as water. So there are some big concerns when it comes to allowing water, but the benefits are huge. And the best part is, most of the kids dont realize just how good it is for them! |

I feel only allowing students to carry water in school is a great idea. It would increase their water intake because they cannot drink anything else during school. Also, by the students increasing their water intake at school, they could eventually increase their water drinking at home. This idea could promote healthy habits for many kids. |
