I am looking for recommendations for K-3 Health Curriculum as I am very unhappy with what I am using. I teach PE and then only 25 minutes each week/class for health.

Again, I am looking for a well-rounded health curriculum for K-3. I am now looking at the Health and Wellness material from Macmillan/McGraw-Hill. Does anyone use this curriculum and if so what do you think about it? I really need info before I present to my school board. I appreciate your help!

I use The Great Body Shop by Children's Health Market. It a consumable text. Each of the 10 themes has a pamphlet that goes with it. The kids get to keep the pamphlets when you are through and take them home. There are about 7 kids that are the "characters" for all the lessons. The kids grow with your students. Kdg doesn't have much of a booklet to read. It is just the front of a page with a parent newsletter on back. There is music that goes with the Kdg sessions with alot of cute healthy songs. The teacher's manuals come with scripted lessons if you wanted to have it all set up for you. I don't have time (30 minutes every other week) to cover everything or use the scripts, but I read through and pull out valuable information to share. In the teacher's manuals there are activities/experiments you can do. There are also suggested books and websites. I love it. We are up for textbook adoption again next year and I hope we can keep this.
Here is their website: http://www.thegreatbodyshop.com/index.asp

As for a Health Curriculum, my district is getting ready to rewrite ours. We are waiting for the finalized Grade Level Expectations from the state. We have a draft right now that looks pretty good. If you would like an idea of what to teach for each level check out:

Good Luck!

Thank you so much, Lisa. I am looking at the website and it looks like a good program. Do you know if there are any lessons on Diabetes? I am on a reservation where Diabetes is very common. I need to teach some prevention. What grade level do you teach? I have K-3 but we are looking at K-8 and I would like something to tell my middle school teachers.
Thanks again!

Are there any other teachers out there that use this program? I would love to hear some feedback if you do.

I'm still looking to purchase a new curriculum for my K-3 health classes. I am now looking for a diabetes curriculum to add into everything else. Does anyone have feedback regarding the Cooridnated Health through Bienestar? It looks like there's a teacher's guide and then a student workbook. I really hope I can get someone's opinion on this as well as the Health and Wellness (Macmillan/McGraw-Hill) program.
