Should a healthy diet be implemented when the students are around 10-12 years old? I think it may be a good idea because it will help them develop healthy eating habits and lower the obesity epidemic in the United States. I don't know if it is too soon to start such a program. Any input?

I absolutely agree. If a child can grow up eating healthy he/she may always keep this lifestyle and live a long healthy life. It's never to early to have a healthy, well balanced diet!

I agree to this to a certain degree. I DO think that healthy eating as well as a healthy overall lifestyle should be implemented into a childs life as soon as they begin their journey. However, calling it a healthy diet may not be the best bet. There are too many eating disorders that many young women focus on because they feel pressured about what they think they must look like. Adults will understand the healthy diet idea, but will a young child understand where the adults are coming from by calling it a diet? I believe in healthy eating as well as a healthy lifestyle, therefore, that's what it should be called. The word 'diet' has a connotation that is frowned upon in our society, so why not word it so it's something to be proud of. Living a healthly lifestyle and eating healthy is something to be proud of.

I really feel that this is a great topic to be focussed on with all of the obestiy numbers rising. Not only are adults obese, but many kids are now becoming obese at an early age. There are many reasons why the obesity numbers are rising, such as video games and watching too much t.v. So yes, a healthy diet should be implemented at an early age since people are not excercising as much because of new inventions and technology. Also, if you start at an early age eating healthy, when you are older you will continue to eat the same way.
