Do you think sleep is imporant? If so why do some many students/college students never get the aquired amount of sleep? Do you have any suggestions in changing this or solutions? |

Sleep is very important but there are a lot of priorities in college that keep us from that. Sleep often will take the backburn. There is often enough time to sleep but by sleeping you can't have enough time for your social life. Also, students spend a lot of there time in the library studying, being in class, often times working, and engaging in sports or extra curriculum activities. I think it is up to the students to manage there time and to find what they feel is enough time. |

I feel that sleep is extremely important. Without it our bodies break down and we become sick and unable to complete normal activities of our everyday lives. Students in college fail to get enough sleep due to homework, sports, partying, work, etc. I find students not getting enough sleep because they put off homework during the day and wait to do it at night. This puts a lot of stress on a student, not to mention takes away from their sleep patterns. If they could balance themselves throughout the day, they would be able to sleep at night. |

Sleep is important no matter what lifestyle anyone has. I feel that college students try to overload as much as they can to finish things that they are taking away from their sleep not thinking about how important it is. I think that the only way that students are going to realize how important sleep is for them is to just let them continue what they are doing and they will realize how much sleep helps them throught the day. Try and give them information and try to have them have good sleep patterns for a t least a week and see if it helps them at all. I don't think there is any way that you can prove it to anyone besides having them be living proof of it. |

Of course sleep is important. But like myself, college students procrastinate as much as they can so they will not have to do the assignment. Students stay up all night studying for a test the night before, and they stay up late to finish a paper or project. Eventually the exhaustion, stress and frustration will catch up to them and they will be completely burned out. College students have to get more organized and get their priorities straight. Once they get that all straightened out, they will be able to sleep better and complete assignments in a timely manner. |

Sleep is extremely important. I think many college students tend to chose fun before homework, and in doing so, the stay up in the later hours finishing homework that is needs to be completed for the next day. There's not much anyone can do to help the sleep deprived college students...the only people that can help them are themselves. With freedom comes responsibility. |

Sleep is most definitly important. I know with myself, if I don't get at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep, I can't function the next day. I'm tired in class and being a physical education major, I'm active in all of my activity classes which is at least one class a day, normally 2 or more. Some college students, well a lot of college students cram at the last minute for a test, to get a project done or to finish homework. I'll confess, that used to be me. Once I wised up, I realized what the smarter decision was, planning ahead. Some solutions would be to write down in a planner all of the assignments that are due on the due dates so you're aware of what is due and when it's due. Also, plan ahead to get things done. Once it's done, you won't have to worry about it. |

I think sleep is a very important thing, but i am the first one to say that i always do not get the recommended 8 hours. I think one of the main reasons why college students do not get much sleep is because they are scared that they are going to miss out on something big. Another reason why college students dont sleep much is because most kids put partying infront of sleeping. Although im not to sure if there is really anything you can do about it. Its not like you could make a law or something, it just comes down to personal preference i guess. |

Sleep is one thing high school students and college students don't get enough of. Each individual should get between 8 and 3/4 hours to 9 and half hours of sleep a night, the benefits out weigh the negative tremendously. The effects of stress, concentration, health, and brain function are weakened when there isn't enough sleep. A lot of students are high school and college or usually distracted with sports, gym, after school activities, television, new friends, and more responsibility. It’s a cycle that usually every individual takes part of, especially in college when mid-terms and finals approach. The fact of getting to bed early may help improve scores more than pulling all nighters. |

I believe sleep is just as important as nutrition. When not getting enough sleep it may not hurt the next morning, but it will catch up to you down the line. Your body needs the proer rest and without it, it will shut down. |

I believe sleep is extremely important. I am currently a college student and for the most part I get the appropriate amount of sleep each night. I make sure I get at least 8 hours of sleep because I know that sleep will have a positive effect on my grade compared to staying up all night cramming information for a test. To answer your question about why most college students do not get the correct amount of hours of sleep is because of the sleeping patterns they have developed, and like others have already stated a lot of college students get stuck in the pattern of procrastinating. |

I believe sleep is one of the biggest factors that effects your entire day. Not being properly rested can have negitive affects on your entire day. Being tired can cause you to loose focus and forget things. Being on a regular sleep parten helps the body adjust so that you feel more engerized threwout the day. |
