I am currently a student at Slippery Rock University. I am also a member of our women's rugby team. I enjoy rugby very much and would like to introduce it to my prospective students someday. I am going to be teaching high school students and was wondering if any experienced teachers believe this would be a good sport to have a unit on. I would certainly modify it so it was not as rough and dangerous. The sport is growing and becoming more popular and as a student I think it would be practical to introduce rugby to high school students. Heather M. Slagle |

Well Heather i support your love for rugby because my sister plays for the Ohio State Bobcats and loves it as well. I am very sure you will have no problem adding this into your teachings because it is already in some schools. My dad teaches P.E. at Gateway Highschool and has rugby as part of his teachings. It is modified like you thought and is very safe with no accidents to date. This is a very popular activity amoung the students and teachers. good luck with your love for rugby and good luck with adding this into your teachings. |

Thank you very much for your response. It sounds like it will be a great activity for students and a good oppurtunity to spread around the game of rugby. |

I never even heard of Rugby until I got to college so I think it would be an excellent idea to introduce it into your teachings. I believe the modification is definitely necessary but having had it in high school, I probably would have alot more interest in it. Goodluck! |
