Unfortunately, there are still many "roll out the ball" physical education teachers who help to maintain those negative opinions. It is up to each one of us to strive to squash those opinions by being the physical educators we should be. It is sad but many times as a physical educator you will have to earn the respect of the peers at your school, but it can be done. I think all the news about childhood obesity is certainly helping to emphasize our importance, but we still have to fight the old stigma. I hope that eventually the old "do nothing" PE teachers will be non-existent!!! |
