I am currently a college Health and PE major.I have been thinking about what grade level I want to teach in the future. I was leaning towards working with elementary students when I graduate. I know that there will be both positives and negatives to this job. I was wondering if someone could help explain either some positives or negatives to teaching elementary PE. |

Negatives: Large classes, long periods, weather, lack of equipment($ ), meet just once a week, poor indoor facility, lack of respect from ________. Usually the only PE teacher there (hard to collaborate as one) Positives: Kids love you, they will pretty much do whatever you ask if it is fun sometimes, you see lots of growth and the FACE when they succeed. Freedom to teach what and how you like (in my case) Best job in the world (mine) It really depends on the place you get a job. Some care about PE and you have what you need and the time and place to do it. Other places it is an after thought and taken less seriously.
