Subject: Kindergarten jump rope From: aleffel@harrisonburg.k12.va.us Date: Wed, 18 Apr 2007 14:32:48 -0400 X-Message-Number: 7 Here are some ideas for how to use jump ropes with kindergarteners. * lay the rope on the floor in a circle -- jump in and out, jump over * lay the rope in a straight pathway -- jump over the rope, forward and back, side to side, scissor, straddle * flip the rope over your head, lift toes and catch under feet (eyes forward, back straight) * use the ropes to form various pathways -- students travel along the pathways using specified locomotor skills * use the rope, on the floor, to form shapes and letters Angela Leffel Harrisonburg, VA |
