I'm a student starting to think about the future of my career. I've already done several activites where music is a teaching cue to start and stop activity. My question is what type of music is considered appropriate? I know most songs have 2 meanings, for the better or for the worse. Any advice is greatly appreciated. |

I would look at Station P.E. website. They have quite a bit of music that is station oriented. Most of it has little in the way of lyrics, but a lot of pumped up beats. There are intervals to choose from (1 minute music, 20 seconds silence), and so on. Check that out. Also, I've used Audacity (free download) to edit music I already have into intervals. Be sure to download the LAME plugin so you can export your new music into MP3 files. |

I agree with Cliff with using the Audacity program. I used audacity for a podcast project and it is very easy to use and free to download. Music can be uploaded with the program and from there you can cut out sections of songs you don't want to use that may not be appropriate in a school setting. Picking music can be a very difficult task with all of the inappropriate lyrics in songs today, but with the use of audacity, you can overcome the issue. |
