Hello, in my pe class, we are teaching 1st grade lessons with limited equipment. Also, we do have an adaptive student who is in a wheelchair. She is functional from the waist up and loves to participate and interact with the other students. My instruction is to provide a 30 minute lesson plan for this class on Cardiovascular Endurance. The only pieces of equipment i have are 5 basketballs for 30 students. If anyone could shoot me any ideas that i could work off of, that would be nice. I am not looking for a whole lesson plan, just some ideas. Thanks! |

I have the students do a variey of stations relating to cardiovascular endurance including but not limiting to: jumping over a line. Leap frogs across the teaching space, use the basketballs at a station and have them dribble around obstacles. Put 5 students per station and set up 6 stations and rotate every 3-4 minuts. Depending on how long it takes to explain the stations you should have plenty of time. Try using baloons--they are really cheap and have them hit the balloon down to a certain point and back.. you could have the student assist the person in the wheelchair by pushing while the student strikes the baloon. Another station could be a lap around an area marked off by cones or even empty boxes. |
