SPACE IS FILLING UP FAST FOR THE COUNCIL ON PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER EDUCATION (COPETE) AWARDS LUNCHEON! This luncheon is one of the most important events for PETE professionals at the 2006 AAHPERD National Convention. The PETE Honor Award will be presented to Dr. Daryl Siedentop, Dr. Robert Pangrazi will give the keynote address, and PETE programs that were approved for national recognition in 2005 will be honored. The luncheon is Thursday, April 27 from 12:00 - 1:30 pm. The registration fee is $40. REGISTER NOW FOR THESE IMPORTANT NCATE WORKSHOPS BEFORE THEY FILL UP! * INITIAL PETE STANDARDS ORIENTATION, NCATE PROGRAM REPORT PREPARATION, AND REVIEWER TRAINING WORKSHOP The morning session will focus on orientation to the 2001 NASPE physical education teacher education standards and preparation of an electronic portfolio for submission to NCATE. The afternoon session will be for those who want to serve as reviewers of electronic portfolios and will provide in-depth information on the review process. Reviewers must attend the entire morning session as well as the afternoon training. Tuesday, April 25 - 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Registration fee is $50. This event is a pre-requisite to registering for the Wednesday April 26, 8:00 workshop PETE Workshop on Developing Assessments and Scoring Guides for NCATE Program Reports. * ADVANCED PETE STANDARDS ORIENTATION, NCATE PROGRAM REPORT PREPARATION, AND REVIEWER TRAINING WORKSHOP The morning session will focus on orientation to the 2001 NASPE physical education teacher education standards and preparation of an electronic portfolio for submission to NCATE. The workshop will concentrate on writing assessments and rubrics to help programs complete an NCATE report and prepare for on-going programmatic evaluation. Attendees who have written rubrics are encouraged to bring a sample rubric along for a critique. To attend this workshop, you must register for and attend the morning session of the Initial or Advanced PETE Standards Orientation and Report Preparation workshops on April 25. Wednesday, April 26 - 8:00 am-12:00 noon. Registration fee is $30. OTHER CONVENTION HIGHLIGHTS. After March 24, all convention registrations must be done on-site.
