I think that after school fitness programs would be a great addition to schools. Im not sure if any schools offer after school fitness programs besides competitive sports. My high school was one that only offered competitive sports after school. Not all students are competitive or want to join a team. There are so many fitness programs that could be developed. For example: weight training, aerobic workouts, a running program, and others. The students could stay after school and get fit instead of going home to play video games and eat. By having these programs, we could work on the obesity issue and even get these students to learn to love being fit. Is this a good idea?

I think that after school fitness programs would be a good idea because, most students that do need to get into shape and want to are too afraid of it in a regular class. Most kids think of guy as a blow off class and make the ones wanting to benefit from it unable to. If it was after school only the ones who want to get into better shape would show up and they would all help each other and benefit from it.

Yes! This is absolutely a great idea. I am actually planning on implementing this kind of program into my school district. I plan on starting it out as a club activity and then open it up after school. We just got a brand new fitness center and there seems to be a lot of interest. I think that students would definitely jump at a way to get in shape and stay fit while doing it with friends and other peers. Great idea! Go for it!

I think that after school programs are a great way for students to do something extra in order to get in shape or just have fun. For those students who do not participate on a sports team in school, an after school program would give students an oppurtunity to participate in weight training, aerobic workouts, a running program, sport games that aren't too competitive and just make it all about having fun and getting fit. It would also help those who don't have enough confidence to join a team, to maybe re-think their decision and build confidence to go out for a team.
