There are a lot of different activites you can do for you high school rock climbing class. I used to have climbing competitions with some of my students. You can set up different routes for beginners, intermediate, and advanced climbers. With the different levels, everyone in the class can and will be willing to participate. Not everyone will climb at the same level expected. You can also attach some healthy snacks at the top or the walls / routes to help motivate the students. You can also have the students design their own routes, have them sign up for outdoor trips outside of school, and take some of the students to nearby indoor gyms and/or other competitions. |

My high school had a rock climbing wall and a unit for rock wall climbing. We spent some time learning the rules, safety, and procedure. After we knew all the basic stuff we moved on to activities. We were timed on how fast we could get up the different level walls and timed for how long we could stay on the wall. We would take down the times we got and would try to beat our personal best. When we beat our personal best we would get a bonus point. We also had a separate room for bouldering and there was a maze in that room. This room was good because you didn't need a partner and everyone was active. I don't know what kind of facility you are working with but hope this helps! |

you can try to get the school to get a rock wall for your gymnasium. i know when i was in high school we had one, and it was a great work out for the kids and it was also a lot of fun. there are other things you can get with the rock wall like zip lines and other climbing obstacles that are good for the kids to participate in doing
