I've herd different numbers from different schools. How long should students be given before and after gym class to change? There are a lot of districts that give students 10 min. before and after class which cuts out on a lot of class time. I myself can change my cloths in 1 min. giving myself a lot more P.E. time. How long should students be given to change? |

Matthew, I think the alotted amount of time has to do with the length of the class. If the class is 45 minutes long, giving ten minutes before and after cuts out half of the class. I believe five minutes is plenty of time to change before class. Possibly give a few more minutes at the end of class to shower, if students would like to shower. |

Matthew, I just got finished doing field work in one of my classes. I was at a school for a month and had the chance to observe the girls locker room activities. It surely does not take ten minutes before and after class to change, maybe five minutes at the most. I would sit in the locker room and watch the students sit and talk for five minutes or goof off. If the students had five minutes before and after, that is a total of ten minutes that could be spent in P.E. instead of throwing a wad of toilet paper at the mirror. Unless the acidity for that day requires a shower, I see no need for wasting twenty minutes of P.E. class time.
