I know warm ups and stretching are appropriate for PE, but how much time should this take up in a class period. Also if students have to change, this then leaves the teacher less time to teach a lesson. Let me know what you think. |

I feel that stretching is a very important part of Physical Education and shouldn't have less than 10 minutes allocated for it each class. |

3-5 minutes in the beginning and 3-5 minutes at the end. Stretching is one of the most important things students can and should do. It of course increases muscle flexibility and aids in joint movement, and makes you feel good! |

Stretching is very important to prevent injuries during class. However some people believe static stretching is not good before a activity and i think that it is very easy to encorporate some dynamic stretches into a warm up for 3- 5 minutes. Dynamic stretching is very useful and you can have the whole class go through a routine very quickly allowing for maximum time for the rest of the activities. |

Dynamic stretching should be used before an activity, and the stretches should mimic the movements that will be performed during activity. Dynamic stretching prepares the muscles, increases strength and decreases the chance of injury. Static stretching should be performed after activity in order to cool down muscles properly. Stretching is necessary and should never be skipped in order to save time. Routines are helpful to establish so students know when and what they need to do for proper stretching while in class. |
