I loved reading about all of the technological advances that the PE 2020 had to offer! I especially liked the SmartBoard, sound system, and instand courts using projection, wow what great ideas! Monitoring physical activity is always a plus and good knowledge for the students, as well as the online/hybrid PE, and the smart phone app, I can't believe where we could be, but I'm just loving all of the ideas. The community connection to PE is also a fantastic idea, getting out of the sedentary life and including more inclusive programs, that are led by qualified instructors, and making it a family affair. Promoting physical activity is a never ending process but by making it fun and including the whole population it's that much easier. Video toolkits and webinars are a fantastic way to get quality information to teachers that they can do on there own time. The curriculum is something that is always useful and purposeful, to publicize and to utilize technology in PE. I totally agree with the statement that "Without a national curriculum, we will never be a core subject. I feel that when the students get to high school physical education they need to start focusing more on the life long activities than just the sports that are such a focus early on. School is where most of these students will get introduced to these activities and if they find out that they like them then they are more apt to continue them outside of school. |
