I am currently in my high school field experience for class. The high school I attend is very lucky to have 30 mountain bikes along with helmets for every student. The teachers made a beginner trail and an advanced trail for the students to ride on. I was amazed how much the students enjoyed biking. They ask daily if they can bike and actually get upset when they are unable to. I like that biking is something that gets all the students involved and is different then just being in the gymnasium. Some students may never get to experience being on a bike trail and I feel like if possible schools should look into getting bikes for their classes |

I think that's awesome that your high school had bikes and two courses! I'm sure lots of students would enjoy being able to do that. You're also definitely right that it is something different than being in a gym or on a field. I've heard of some schools having trails for running, but never biking. Although buying bikes and having trails may not be practical, or in the budget, for every school, I think schools that are able to do so should certainly look into it. |

I've got 15 junior 21 speed mountain bikes and teach at the k-5th grade level. The seats are adjustable and accommodate 1-5th graders wonderfully; even a few of the taller kinders. I just finished up my 3 week spring biking program and the kids absolutely loved it, as usual. This is my 6th year having bikes and there's nothing more enjoyable than facilitating a child's first ride. Would be glad to answer any questions regarding my program. |
