Way back in my days of elementary school, we had fun fridays, which were a free afternoon of activity for well behaved students. In today's education world, do you think many other teachers and/or administrators would help in fun friday participation? would free hours be an acceptable means of increasing physical activity? Thanks. |

When I was in high school we had free days on friday and it worked for the students and teachers as long as everyone stayed active. |

you may not be able to get the whole school to partake in this idea since they are constantly trying to push P.E. out of schools but you could modify this idea by providing students different options for activity they chose to do for the day in P.E.. This would only work with supervision if you are teaching with a few other teachers that period and have the facilities. |

The idea is great in promoting Physical Activity but it will be hard to push through. Many schools nowadays are putting all their interest into Math and Reading, mainly because they want higher test scores and higher test scores mean more money from the State or Gov. I think in order to make this work, you would have to prove to the administrators that this event will not only help students be active but it will teach them hands on skills with some of the activities involved. The benefits of Physical Activities are tremendous but they don't see it. So, make them see it. |

I love the idea of Fun Fridays but I agree that it would probably be a good idea to offer some choices. This keeps the contol in the hands of the PE teacher while still giving the students a choice. I do think that if you just offer free time there will be too many students choosing to sit and relax. I have seen too much laziness in kids these days! |

Fun Fridays are a really good idea. I think it can increase the students interest in PE class. Giving them the option of what they want to do one day per week must be earned however. If they participate and dress all week, come friday the day is theres to choose their favorite activity or sports |
