I have some students that want to start a paintball club and maybe do a paintball unit. I am not sure it is a good idea to do in class but it would be a fun club sport or IM. Is there any advice on paintball in schools? |

I think paintball is a very fun and unique sport but it promotes violence. I am not against having a paintball unit but some parents might object. Shooting other students is never a good idea and also the welts the paintballs leave can be quite large. I feel the only way to b e able to get a paintball activity going at a school is to make it an IM. |

I do not think that paintball should be used in Physical Education classes. Some students may think it is fun and want to play, however, some students probably would not want to do this activity at all. I am not trying to generalize here, but I do not feel that most girls in Physical Education class would find paintball useful to them. When I become a Physical Educator, I want my students to live a healthy and active lifestyle for the rest of their lives. I do not feel that paintball would be a good Phys Ed. activity to fulfill that goal of mine. If the students want to make a paintball club, or do that on their own time, that would be much better. Also, paintabll guns can be very pricey. Do you think a school board would buy you 30 paint ball guns for Phys Ed class? |

I agree with you chris... i do not think this is something that should be atempted in p.e. class. think about the safety and liability issues. my son played some paint ball in college, and he would come home with some pretty bad whelps and even bruising. You would also have to purchase all the saftety equipment to go along with those paintball guns. this just sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen. just my opinion though. |

I do not feel that any school should offer a paintball class or IM. I feel that it promotes violence and the equipment that is required, both safety and the gun, tends to run pretty high in cost. |

I thing that you might be on to something, but I wouldn't use the paintball guns in class. People might get the wrong idea. What you could do is fill water balloons with paint and they can have a "paint" battle instead of a "water" battle. It is something that would interest the kids, and at the same time take away the violence that the paintball gun might promote. |

I feel the same way as most of the others out there. It would be nice to incooperate that as a lesson but yes it does promote violence and that will not do. The way to make this possible would be to have it as a club sport or intermurals maybe. |

I and my friends tried to get a paintball club started. We had a president, vice president enough members to qualify for a club. We even got the teacher signatures for the program but the principle would not allow the club. I’m not saying don’t try imp just saying it wont be easy |

I think that having paintball as unit in school would be a good idea under certain circumstances. I think it would be appropriate if say there was an ROTC group in school or if there was some kind of war strategies class. If there were things like this I think it would be a very useful activity to do. |

As someone who plays paintball, I don't think it would be a good idea to have a paintball unit in school. There's too much of a risk of kids getting hurt and parents taking action against the school. Some parents would also have a problem with this being taught in school because it could be seen as promoting violence and wouldn't want to risk their kids getting hurt. Even if some parents are ok with their children being taught paintball in school, it's unfair for the kids who's parents don't want them to participate. I think having an after school club would be ok if proper safety guidelines were following and parents signed off on their kids participating. |

I dont think paintball is a good idea to teach in schools. There is a big safety factor in it and also it can be seen as prmoting violence. |
