At the division II collegiate level, athletes are told they will be drug tested. As a junior, I have yet to be tested. Why do these schools say they are going to test and then don't? |

It is completely random. My roommate got the 3 am phone call 3 weeks before the swimming season started. I never received the call. |

Most coaches and trainers will tell you that there is going to be a chance of you getting tested in hopes that you will not use those banned substances. What would happen if you took the chance and got caught? It's better to be warned and substance free then to get tested positive midway through the season. |

At a level where your school isnt at the top ranks, there is a low level of being drug tested, but a D1 basketball team who are ensured to produce results for the school is sure to get drug tested. Having worked as a doping marshall at the world championship level, i got to see first hand how these things work, and most often they would only choose the top 3 finishers. This is after they have been warned by their doctors and trainers that if they get one of those positions that they will be drug tested. So most often times, the athlete who is expected to winb by reputation and does, gets tested. |

I totally agree with this method because it turns athletes away from using any banned substances. Atleast as an athlete you have a slight idea that there is a possibility of a drug test. Athletes cannot disagree with this at all because there is no wrong in it. |

It is expensive to drug test at the Division II and III level but at least athletes no that there is a chance they can get caught.

It is more or less to scare the athlete. They know there is that chance they could get called on to be tested. It is up to the athlete if they want to take the risk of getting caught. |

Being that the tests are random and can happen at any time throughout the season, It is only fair that everyone is prewarned about the possible tests that can occur. I think its a good way to hold athletes accountable for their actions. |

When I went to school at WVU I was tested as a freshman and it was totally random but you were warned ahead of time. Since my time at Slippery Rock I have not heard of one case of people getting tested other than at the national level. They tell you that you will be tested because it is a possibility and I am pretty sure by law they have to tell you. It is an expensive test and it is a way to make athletes watch what they are putting into their bodies to make sure that is legal. |

I'm a sophomore at Slippery Rock, and my freshman year I went through drug testing, but after I was accused of using drugs. I did hear of girls from the field hockey team here at Slippery Rock getting randomly tested their freshman year as well. |
