I've recently read that the number of students participating in Track and field is declining. Any suggestions on how to get kids out for the team? Would the use of poster's videos be a good idea to try and get kids? |

Posters help, talk to the kids individually and to the classes, remind them that track will help with almost all sports. Having said that, we still have trouble getting enough people to join boys track. We have plenty for girls track, though. Any other thoughts? |

You have to become friends with the students for them to get involved with track. Let them all know the benefits of participating in track. The speed the quickness, the jumping ability. Once they know all of this information and they want to succeed in athletics they will have to join. It will give them the advantage on the students who are not working out all season long. Also make the track season fun. Usually athletes do track because they want to stay fit but take a break from having the stressfull basketball and football coaches off their backs. |
