In high school level sports, it is essential for teammates to bond. This benefits down the road for having a closer team that will be more successful. What are some good ideas to involve team building? This can be during practice and outside of practice. |

If your team is a girls team you can divide them into groups and have a talent show with them. Each group has to make up a routine and perform it in front of the team. A guys team might like this too. The team can vote for their favorite group at the end and declare a winner. Singing and dancing is usually a favorite. |

I think that the position of the captain/captains of any team play an important part here. I always believe the captain should organize an "everybody must attend" social event. I also believe that for at least some part of this should be the team members only. Anything from lunch at school to a night out. I also believe the coach should not be present if possible - just encouraging the events to happen. |

I really like the ideas given so far. Some things I have really seen work are taking teams to a college/pro/semi-pro game. Our coaching staff has taken our high school football team to an arena football game the past two seasons. This is a great way for the team to be together, watch great athletes, and learn from a respective level. Also, we have taken our teams to Cedar Point the week before football camp. Although both ideas require sums of money, there are great group/team discounts offered by activities such as these. I have seen these trips change an attitude of a team and are also fun for everyone. |
