I was just wondering what everybody thought of drug testing in high school. Should high schools demand mandatory drug testing through out the school year or should they just do random drug checks? |

I think that drug testing should be mandatory in high school. I also believe there should be no second chances. If a student tests positive for performance enhancing drugs or other illegal drugs he or she is off the athletic team for the remainder of the high school career. Drugs should not be tolerated in high school. |

I think there should be drug testing in highschools because it would help to lower the rates of students getting caught selling or doing drugs. They will be more fearful of getting caught and in the result will be more afraid to bring the drugs to school or take them during school. |

I do agree with the benefits of drug testing in high school, however I don't think it should just be athletes getting tested. I feel that all students who participate in an extra curricular activity should be included. For example, It isn't fair to ask an athlete to be drug tested but to not ask a student in an organization such as student council to do the same. Students participating in a function or activity affiliated with the school should be subject to the same rules. |

I think drug testing should be done either to all students or no one. I went to a high school where random drug testing took place among athletes. There was a bigger problem with drugs among the students who did not participate in sports. I saw the testing of just athletes to be wrong, and thought it should be everyone, or done away with completely. |

I definately agree that drug tests should be issued in schools today and should be issued to every student. Who says that athletes are the only students that would think of doing drugs? And by schools just drug testing athletes for drugs what is this saying about how much we care about all the other students? Do we not care if other students are doing drugs or are they just not worried about those students? I think that by doing the random drug tests this will scare the students out of doing drugs or if that doesn't work the ones doing drugs will be able to get the help they need. |

I feel that if a high school is going to drug test their students and/or athletes, that every student should be tested. I don't feel that it would be fair to only drug test random students. To me, that is like saying that only specific students are cared about within the school. If drug testing is not done for everyone, it shouldn't be done at all. |
