I was just wondering if any high schools are drug testing their athletes and if not do they think they should be drug testing. |

I know that my high school drug tested and I do not feel that they should be able to. Statistics show that students that are involved in activities and sports are less likely to get in trouble and do drugs. I feel that if anyone should be tested, it should be the students that are not involved in anything. |

I was just reading the other day that high schools have been drug testing since as early as 1996. I beleive schools should be drug testing. There is a problem though, most schools cannot afford drug testing, it is expensive. Some schools cannot afford textbooks for all of their student so drug testing is going to take a backseat because of the financial situation of public school in America. |

I coach at a local high school and every athlete and coach is drug tested before their sport begins. I think it is a good idea that the athletes are tested because it can help eliminate instances of drug use on the team. It is expensive to do, but I think it is well worth eliminating drug use in athletes |

When I was in high school we were not drug tested. There were schools in the area that did drug test their students. I would like to see my school start to drug test not only the athletes but all students. Drugs have become a concern in our town and I think that if the school drug tested it would help clean up the town. |

Ya Mike I would definitely agree with you there. I mean drugs nowadays are taking over and I think the school should step in and try to help out as much as possible. Some of these athletes come from a bad family life and don't have the proper parenting skills in their own household so drug testing in high school could help make things much better! |

In my highschool, there were no drug testing. Although drugs have become a huge concern, drug testing have never been a huge deal. As you know, in college, every NCAA team is drugtested at least 1 time a year. I think it should be considered in highschool sports, but i am not completely sure of the rules! |

At my high school there was no drug testing. Drugs were a huge problem at my school and we had drug searches often. I think high schools should drug test athletes. I look at athletes as role models, and I don't think any role model should use drugs. |

Currently there is no drug testing taking place at my former high school. There are some schools that I know of that are currently testing student athletes for drug use. The sad reality is that drug testing probably is a necessary evil in today’s world. Our professional athletes, especially baseball players, are only making this situation worse by using performance enhancing drugs themselves. |

I think drug testing is going to become necessary in high schools. The use of anabolic steriods are becoming larger everyday. For kids to get the edge that they need in their sport. A simple solution for this would be to drug test everyone, not just the athletes. Drugs in general have are becoming a problem in the youth in present day. |

I graduated from high school in 2001 and my senior year they started to initiate random drug testing for all the extra curricular activities. I think that even though it a sad thing that sports, especially at the high school level have come to this, but it is beginning to become a necessity in today's world. |

i graduated from my high school in 2004. They never did any drug testing. They did have random locker searches though just to make sure no one had any illegal drugs. I do believe though, as we move on. High school should start to drug test. They could even do random drug tests, this way kids would think twice about doing any kind of drug. Especially for sports coaches or even kids they wouldn't even think about doing performance enhancers. |

I from Texas, down here they are starting the process to pass a law that will require the schools to look for performace inhancing drugs. This doesn't stop any one from doing a complete drug test. I do not have anything against it. I look at it this way: Profesional and the NCAA test their athletes. Therefore this should carry over to high school. The easy way to stop the test from expanding beyond performance inhancers is to higher a private firm that only releases the result of a specific test. |

I know as of right now my high school does not drug test their athletes, and i dont believe they should be able to. We are talking about high school kids here not college athletes. Im sure there is drug use in high school, but im sure there is much more drug use amongst kids that are not involved in athletics |

I agree that athletes should be drug tested, but it should not stop there. If you are going to test athletes, you should also test the other students as well. In public schools students are receiving free education. In order to obtain that education students should be required to be drug-free. |

I think drug tests should be involved in high school sports. It not fair for anyone to have an advantage such as that over anyone else. If you can't perform up to standards on your own, then you shouldn't do it at all. |
