When coaching, do you think it is appropriate to cut players at the elementary/middle school level in any sports?

No I do not think it is appropriate. At that age kids are still growing and are finding out what their strengths and weaknesses are. Getting cut could turn them off from a sport completely when they could have excelled at that later in life.

I coach at a pretty small school so we don't cut but coaches in the past did. I think it did hurt our team because some of the players this year have no experince. I can see where coaches how coach in bigger schools would have to cut though. Some parents feel their kids should get to play X amount of minutes and if you have 15 kids on a basketball team its pretty difficult to play eveyone.
