I coach an inner city Middle School basketball team, i feel that on game days students should wear a shirt and tie on the bus to games or at least a school warm up. my reasoning for this is that when entering other schools the team looks more professional and from experience in having to wear a shirt and tie to games when i was a player seems to bring more positive feedback from the schools we play against or set up exhibition games with. does anyone have either other reasons supporting my thought or reasons why this is probably not a big deal? |

I agree with you Alexander. Looking like a team is very important to me as far as team unity. Not having kids dress appropriate allows for the chance that kids may wear something inappropriate or just have a negative reflection of your middle school. I believe that it is very important to represent your school in a positive manor. Also, I think that looking professional helps with positive thinking. Looking good as a team and individual can give a great amount of confidence and pride. |

I completely agree with having you're middle school students follow a dress code. When you look good and feel good you play good. It is not something that is expected of them at that level. You are trying to set a positive example of you're team and program and that is a very positive thing. You look like a team so you will play like a team. It allows more for even more structure and you should have other schools impressed that you expect you're players to go above and beyond what is expected. It is a great idea and I believe all schools should implement a dress code for before and after each game, especially away games. |

Along with everyone else I 100% agree on your students following a dress code. When you set standards and stick to them your students will rise up to the challenge. Also when they present themselves in a good way they will feel better about themselves and also have more respect for themselves and their teammates! |

I along with everyone agree on the game-day dress code. I've been coaching junior high wrestling 4 years now and our wrestlers have always dressed in 1) dress shirt, tie, and khakis or 2) school warm-up just like you posted Alexander. It certainly brings a professional and respectful look to not just the team, but also to the school. The high school I went to however, did not have a game-day dress code and often times our team would look, in lack of better terms, shaggy; we didn't always look respectable is my point and referring to Lauren's comment, I believe dressing in a respectful manner certainly does bring a better sense of confidence to the players as well as coaching staff, now having being on the other end of the competition line. |

As everyone else has stated, I agree that on game days student athletes should have to follow a dress code. Growing up I never had to dress up but when we went to tournaments there were always teams that did. When students are all dressed the same they stick out and it is easy to see that they are all on the same team. Also I agree that it does give a sense of confidence, and also gives the opponent an uneasy feeling. When a team shows up and they are all dressed respectfully it shows that they are there to give it their all. |
