At what age level is it appropriate to no longer have equal playing time but instead move into earning playing time? |

I think that 7th grade or 13 years old is a good time to start earning playing time. By 13 most kids have decided if they are good enough to keep playing an organized sport. they should be ready to face not playing equally with their fellow teammates if their not as good. |

I agree with Justin. 7th grade is a good time to start earning playing time rather than giving everyone equal playing time because by the time they are in high school they should understand and be okay with the concept of earning playing time. By starting in 7th grade, it gives them a couple years before they enter high school to get used to the transformation. |

I think in 8th or 9th grade depending on the program. The athletes will know this before hand and probably have been playing the sport for a couple of years now. |

I agree with Jim that 8th or 9th grade is the right time to have students earn their time playing. Every student grasps concepts at their own speed and at this age most of them have physically caught up in the skills needed to effectively play in a game. |
