I believe that a strict weight training program is essential in the success of athletes in track and field. This is especially true for sprinters, hurdlers, jumpers, and throwers. I have benefited greatly from a proper weight training program in the sport of track and field. My high school track team never had a weight training program and at the end of every season I always ran my worst because I wasn't able to finish my races strong. Ever since I started running in college and got on an intense weight training program I have put on 20 pounds of muscle and greatly increased my strength and endurance in my races such as the 400 meter dash and the 400 hurdles. |
