With the importance of Physical activity in schools through all levels being even more emphasised, should schools start introducing sports like cricket to the syllabus to go along side the typical basketball, baseball, football and soccer lessons. This surely would be benefical to eveyone both teachers and students in being able to impliment different skills of practice? |

It is actually in my eyes very importnat to show these kids the skills needed in a variety of Lifetime and leisure activities. Chances are that the kids will enjoy these games and they will be able to enjoy these games for the rest of their lives. |

I believe it is benificial for students to be educated on a wide variety of games and activities. Introducing students to different games is also a great way to incorperate other subjects such as history into a lesson, something physical education teachers need to consider. I played cricket for the first time a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. I think students would be very open to trying something new instead of just the major sports. |

I wanted to introduce a few games popular in other countries. We started with a modifide version of rugby. Now I would like to try cricket next year. Does anyone know a good website that shows you how to play the game? or could you tell me how to play the game? |

I am interseted in adding Cricket to my curriculum for next year. Could you lead me in the direction of a website or some material that would aide me in learning about the game and instructional ideas. |

As an Australian PE Teacher, I use all the sports you have mentioned as well as Cricket, Rugby (League & Union) and AFL (Australian Football). Having a wide range of sports to choose from enables me to keep my program fresh and the kids like the variety! http://cricket.com.au/default.aspx?s=schoolslandin g Above is Cricket Australia's website on all the resources they offer Australian Schools. A great starting point for your cricket units! |
