It always makes the conditioning aspect easier when children are doing something they enjoy. Therefore something such as small-sided games, which maximize activity time and skill repetition enhance the conditioning and skill components.

Obstacle Soccer is a fun variation that focuses on field vision, dribbling and fitness. You can see an article on the game at:

A great conditioning drill that worked for me is called "the box." This consist of dividing the team into 4 even groups and have each group go to each corner of the field. One group starts by running the out-of-bounds line to the next group. Once that group gets there, that group takes off. The groups just cycle around the field. The key is to have the groups spring all out because they get to rest as the other 3 groups are running. A great shooting drill for players is called "power and finess." Divide into two teams. The coach will have all the balls at the goal line to the side of the goal. Goalie in net of course. The team that is not shooting helps collect balls for coach as the other team shoots. The shooting team starts around 30 yards out from the net. The coach will roll a ball out to around the 18 and a little further where the player will have a power shot. As the player is about to shoot there power shot, they roll another ball out that is closer than the last ball for the player to have a finess shot. If a player misses both shots then they sit off to the side. However, if a teammate scores on both shots, then the first person out would come back into the line. This game goes on until each team runs out of players in the game.
