Like Erin, in high school during Cross Country season on easy days we would sometimes play games instead of running. I would say our favorite game as a team to play was ultimate frisbee or ultimate football. I always enjoyed this because we were moving the entire time and being competitive against each other instead of just heading out seperately for an easy three miles. Also, on Saturdays we did long runs, which were about 10-12 miles, our coach gave us rewards if we could finish the entire run. Usually he would have donuts and juice or milk waiting for us, or sometimes he would let us make a workout for an easy practice. During track it was a totally different story, the team was huge compared to our cross team which was about 25 close knit people. This didn't happen often but on easy days the entire team would gather together for relays and we would mix distance, jumpers, throwers, and sprinters. One of each on a team and we would have to do different activities around the track for a mile or so, typically each person would do one lap of activity such as a crab walk or a skip or jumping or a sprint. I really enjoyed these days because the team as a whole was competing against each other and we all bonded and became closer. |
