Does anyone know of documention that shows how many states/districts allow "athletics" to take place during the school day as a class? And/or how many states allow athletics to count as a PE credit? |

Yes, as in team practice...a "class" is designated as Athletics--one of the 7 periods of the day...and students given PE credit for it. |

Can anyone participate in this class or is it specifically for the athletes? What state is this in? |

When I was in high school, we had athletics during one of our class times. Part of the class time we had to do school work (homework, study, etc.) but most of the time we had practice or watched game tapes. The school board counted this for taking physical education class. In high school, I was never in a PE class because I played sports. |

I can see giving athletes credit for PE but how are the coaches expected to be on hand at odd times throughout the day. |
