Not necessarily. I have a coaching minor and to my surprize it was "over-looked" on three occassions. I applied for a head basketball postion, a head golf position, and a head baseball position only to be denied. I asked the assistant principal why I wasn't even considered for an interview and she had no answer. I ask her if my athletic coaching degree had be over-looked and she replied yes. I do think that if your administration appreciates education, they will not over-look it. It will help you be a better coach without a doubt. I would encourage you to get your minor.
