When I was in high school I was subject to drug and alcohol testing, being the first school in America to legally do so, and it ruined many peoples careers. I agree that the students should be punished but I know of one student who was with his family and had wine and beer the night before his random drug and alcohol test with his family at dinner. He tested positive and it costed him many scholorship offers. In that situation, where the parents know the athlete is drinking with them, is it fair?

Alcohol cunsumption under the age of 21 is illegal. Whether you drink at a party, by yourself, or with your parents, underage drinking is against the law... so, of course it is fair.

Fair, No. But to have a policy like that you can't give any kind of flex on the rule. I knew severial people whose parents would have lied for the player just so they would get into trouble.

The preventive measures are very strict, especially for the sportsmen. The alcohol and the drugs can have extremely negative effect and each of you, who want to try anyway, should be responsible for his actions.

Hi,

I am on the Ventura, CA district subcommittee for PE class size caps. Do you have a class size cap in your district?
If so how many students?

Thanks for the info,

Manny Koch

I think checking for drug and alcohol in high schools should be done for every sport all the time. This will help the athletes to stay away from drugs and alcohol. We want athletes to be in top shape, but doing it safe and legal.
