Should everyone on a high school team get playing time no matter their athletic talent? |

No, this is ok in the elementary level, not in highschool the best athletes should play no matter what. These are young men now, not boys thus they should be treated like young men. |

No, in high school the kids are grown up and know who has the talent on the team. High school coaches are under more pressure now a days to put out successful winning teams in every sport, and the only way to do this is play the best players. Other players should prove themselves in practice or when they get sparing playing time in the games to show they are worthy of more playing time. As a coach, you coach to win the game, and as a player it is the same situation not to make everyone happy. |

No, at a high school level you have to play your best players before you can play anyone else. This does sound a bit harsh but by the time you get to high school you know if you are athletic or not. That is the coaches job to make those tough decisions about who plays and who doesn't. I know from experience that if your coach plays everybody the good players will get frustrated and you probably won't have a winning team. |

I feel it depends, if its at the varsity level, no, junior varsity however I feel everyone should get a chance to develop and expose their talent. I think as a coach you have to make sure that all your players know and understand their roles and they know you'll do your best to get them in the game when you can. |

I am a junior in college now but I did play basketball and softball all four years of high school. I feel that yes you do have to prove yourself to your coaches and fellow teammates at practice that use do deserve to play but there is also a time when you could be up by so many points and at that point I think its time to get everyone in to give them the experience. I am not the best athletic at all but i know for a fact that I always proved to everyone I know the game, had the skills, the ability and yet I still sat on the bench. You know what for me it wasn't all about winning, it was about being on a team and loving the sport and be able to have the experience. I hated my coach on days I wouldn't get put in because I know I should have been put in but I never let it get me down, I would just keep improving my skills and proving to everyone that I do deserve a chance and just waited to show it in a game. I can say though I never got that shot in a game because of my coach. I say think about the situation and ability of your athletes and maybe take a chance, risk whatever you want to call it and you might be surprised at what you get. Your worst athlete might not be who you think they are but you will never know until you try. |

I am a sophomore in college and I think that the best players should play in high school. Sports teams represent their schools and you want to represent your school to the best of your ability. However, I also believe that other opportunities should be offered such as intramural sports so that everyone as an opportunity. |

As an athlete at the division 2 level I believe that no, not every athlete should get equal playing time. High School is a time for an athlete to realize the potential he/she has, and if they have the ability to play at the next level. |

Depends on the level at the JV or freshman level playing time should be similar for all so that talent is developed for the varsity. At the varsity level playing time should be based on ability but if you "make the team" you need to play to improve, otherwise you should be on JV. Borderline seniors need to be told they will not be starting and might not play much, many will not play at all. Honesty is best here. |

If students are playing at the varsity level I think that it should be up to the coaches who plays. I think that if it is at the JV levels everyone should get a shot at playing. You never know if someone might develop into a great player someday. |

At the high school level in sports, all the students are playing more than to just have fun. Every athlete who plays in high school is competetive. Coaches should play the best players. Coaches have pressure to put out a winning team as well as if they do not have a winning team after only a few seasons they get fired. As far as talent goes, the best should play at the varsity level and have a few subs at hand. But, the rest of the athletes should be playing for JV that are less talented and receive equal playing time at that level. |

At a high school level players are not just playing to have fun, they are playing because they love the sport and are good at it. JV is for those who want to try a sport and see if they are good at it, and yes all students should get equal playing time. But in High school students are playing to win, and only the best players will play. In Physical education class is where all the students will get equal playing time with all actitives, but an actual physical sport is where athletes go to win. |
