While this topic can be debated for hours, I would like to hear your brief reactions and arguments about children playing. I have been a youth fooball coach for the past 14 years with ages ranging from 6 to 13. Though my coaching style might have changed slightly over the years, my positive outlook on the benefits have not. Actually, it is the parents(like most youth sports) who are the biggest problem in youth football. I know about issues of keeping score, injuries, and winning/losing. What other pros and cons are there in your mind? Thanks

I believe that football is unlike any other team sport in that it is the truest of team sports in that everyone must do their job to be a successful team. With that in mind there are valuable character traits that are instilled into these young athletes that they will take with them as they mature. Hard work, team work, accountability, dedication, sacrifice the list goes on. |

I myself think that the parents make the coaches job harder in youth football too. Because it the coaches team to begin with and to start the season off he has his rules for his players to go by. for example keeping their grades up, don't get into trouble, show up for pratice and others. But the parents feel that they don't have to go by the coaches rules cause they paid for their kid to play this game. my pros are the coaches try to make the kids understand the other things they have to do first instead of just playing football. but some parents think of it as just a game and grades, acting right, pratices isn't a big deal since is only youth football. |
