How many days a week do you have your team lift during the summer? What is the specific workout for those days? Is any type of running done before or after weightlifting? |

This summer I was a strength and conditioning coach for a high school football team. I was an intern for UPMC sports performance who has a contract with this high school to run there weight room and strength and conditioning of there teams. What the other strength and conditioning coach and I did with the team was a 3 day per week program. We would go Mon, Wed, And Fri. Every day the team would do some form of speed/agility/conditioning training before the lift for about 1 hour. After the workouts on the field, the players would get 15 to 20 mins to meet in the weight room. We would then have sheets prepared for the players with the days lift on it, telling them what to do. These lifts were position specific as well as training phase specific. We would also at the end of every lift run a team core work out that only took a few minutes but would build mental toughness and team building |

While in high school, I had summer workouts before two-a-days. We went 4 days a week alternating upper body and lower body (i.e. Mon. upper body, Tues. lower boy, Thurs. upper body, Fri. lower body). We would do speed drills and conditioning. It was split up into groups, backs, lineman, recievers, and we would rotate about every hour. We did heavy sets in the weightroom and stretching wiht the conditioning. |
