I believe that this will vary from day to day. On an average our practices last about three hours at the high school level; give or take some time for clean up, set up, water breaks, and demostrations. No matter what players will get bored and loose focus from time to time. Once we saw our players loosing focus we would stop and play a very small base running game with them that they enjoyed, about 5 minutes long just to wake them up. Sometimes we took a lap around the field and coaches would join just to let them know that they were not being punished. Just trying to keep them motivated and focused on the bigger goal which may be playoff may be enough for some players to want to learn and stay focused. Also by having you're captian's keep players motivated will set a very postive example for the rest of the team. |
