Motivation is very important to players. Coaches should have talks or cheers with the team prior to the game. This is very important to the players. Please list any ideas that you might have. |

Nothing beats a good prep talk before a big game. I feel that it is a necessity for a coach to be able to give a pre-game speech before a game. For me, nothing beat a good speech that was direct and to the point |

Giving a good strong pre-game speech always gets me pumped up. The manner in which the coach gives the speech helps. When I know the coach is pumped and ready to go, that gets me pumped as well. When the coach believes that makes me believe. |

Like they said before, a great motivational speech before the game is great. Also, a hard week of practice with a day or two off before the game is good also. But, in those days off have team meetings or group activities that keep morale up and their emotions set on the game. |

As stated before pre-game speeches are always a good way to pump up your players. Even days in advance to get them thinking about the game early is a good idea. Its never to early to get your players heads where they should be. In my mind the more early the better. |

Sure pre-game speeches are great. If you watch sat. morning college football you see Lou Holtz's talk about what he would say if he were the coach of that team. But the best way to motivate your players is not by giving them encouragement all the time and over using it, and yelling, swearing, throwing trash cans, and calling kids out are not great motivators; but finding a happy medium leaning more towards the encouraging side would be the better motivation. Players respond better to a coach that is not yelling at them all practice or whenever they make the mistake. Coaches like that try to be tyrants and we as coaches need to get away from that. |
