I coached my first season last year of track and field. I was the pole vault coach and learned a lot. As a decathlete in college, pole vault was one of the events I had to learn and perform but it was not my best out of the 10 events. Once I stepped in as the coach I was comfortable with the athletes that already had a grasp of the vault. I could work with them much easier than I could with the younger athletes. At times I felt like I was going no where with the younger ones and I felt like I was being repetitive with them. What are some progressions that I can go through with the younger athletes to accelerate their learning curve? |
