Does anyone think that with how fast technology is growing that PE teachers will no longer be needed to teach class becasue of simulated activites such as virtually playing a sport or teaching it. |

well scott, i don't see that happening. technology is great, however i can't see a machine teaching a student how to do a left handed lay up in basketball or how to throw a spiral in football, or how to hold the paddle in ping pong. I still think real people will still have to perform the hands on tasks in p.e. |

This seems like a fair question to ask, but I do not see physical education be replaced by the Nintendo Wii or any other pieace of software. There is a big difference in shooting a basketball in a virtual world compared to the real world. |

I agree, technology is a great thing to integrate into PE; it can make learning and organization much more sufficient. As far as taking over our jobs, I feel it would almost be impossible, only because there's nothing like human interaction. It is also a lot easier to learn from someone who has experience instead of something (technology) that just "knows". |

I do agree that technology is growing at a fast pace. I think that it will have such an impact in the future, as well as it is doing in the present. It help with many aspects of physical education, but I don't think that technology will overcome taking out phyical educators from the school system. |

Although technology is growing very fast I do not believe it will ever replace actual P.E teachers. There is a certain aspect of teaching that a video or computer cannot do; develop a relationship with their students. If a student is in need of help he/she cannot run to a computer and ask for advice. Technology will definitely help with the advancement of the Physical Education department, but the one on one, teacher-student relationship is always needed to be successful in any subject. |
