I fully believe any future or current physical educator should have some sort of background in adapted physical education or adapted physical activity. I am currently a student minoring in adapted physical activity and I have found it to be incredibly helpful. The minor more than prepares students for any classroom inclusion situation whether it be in the pool, gymnasium, or other setting. At my University, each student is required to take an Intro to Adapted Activity course. I would recommend that anyone who is not planning to focus on adapted physical activity at least take a class to better inform themselves on ways to include all students. |
