Should adapted sports such as wheelchair rugby, goal ball, and beep baseball, be taught in middle school and high school physical education classes? Also if the school does not have the correct equipment needed to play the sports, how would you go about teaching them? |

I believe these should be taught, it would give students an opportunity to experience from an adapted persons perspective, but if the equipment is not readily available it would not be possible unfortunately. |

I certainly believe that adapted sports should be taught at those levels in the PE classes. As far as equipment that you are lacking, would that be wheel chairs? I don't know how many you would need for a class, but usually schools have at least 1 in the nurses office. A lot of times you can find some at a good will for cheap, or you could try a nursing home/hospital to borrow extras, even if for a week, just a suggestion! |

In a perfect world it would be a good idea for all students to get the experience of playing adapted sports. However, middle school is a tough age for that. I can see students maybe not in the class but outside of class giving a disabled student a hard time. Middle school students are not always the best for compassion. I would think high school would be a better place to introduce adapted sports. |
