What workout suggestions do you have for developing physical fitness when working with students who have special abilities?

I am a special ed teacher in a junior school in Ireland. I am doing a project entitled "Implementing a Daily Gross Motor Exercise programme for children with SEN in a mainstream primary school". I run such a prog with 12 students with a variety of coordination problems, I am looking for research to prove the benefits of such a programme. Can you help?

I have found that the band type workouts are good for wheelchair students. I have placed hooks in a board to attach the bands Then mounted the board to a wall at various levels. This can provide countless angles and resistance exercises.

Sport stacking is great for all kids! I have three children, and my son has a neurological disorder that creates issues with visual-spatial aspects and motor skills and he is thriving with sport stacking! Sport stacking helps develop motor skills, patterning, sequencing, focus and concentration and promotes hand-eye coordination and ambidexterity. You use both sides of your body and brain which improves bilateral proficiency. I have been sport stacking with my son for two months now, and not only have we had fun, I have seem some drastic improvement in his coordination and confidence level. I truly believe in the benefits of sport stacking and invite you to check it out: www.speedstacks.com.
