I am a college student and have to teach a lesson on ultimate frisbee to some students next week. The students I am teaching are from about 5-9 years of age and they all have mental retardation among other things. I was just wondering if there were any fun activities to do with them since they usually cannot understand and participate in the actual game. Maybe if there are any fun skills they can practice that relate to frisbee somehow?

If some of the students have an intellectual disability, you could set up a series of stations. If hula hoops are available, you can have the students aim for the hoop. Using bright colored objects may help keep the students eyes focused on the object. If the hula hoop is too easy, find a smaller object that creates a realistic goal.
